Taiwan Insurance Institute organizes the “2020 Improving English Proficiency Workshop – Insurance International Affairs” from July 1 to October 8.

This workshop provides a channel to improve Taiwanese insurance practitioners’ English ability.  Courses are separated into two programs this year: practical and advanced.  Courses within the practical program target fundamental skills in business English — including but not limited to successfully kicking off a business meeting, socializing in business scenarios, writing effective emails, and enhancing presentation skills.  The advanced courses target learners with a stronger foundation in English, as courses will polish off learners’ writing skills — including drafting press releases, note-taking in conferences, analyzing insurance and finance news— and speaking skills— including participating in teleconferences and negotiating in business settings.  Each program has two different shifts.  During courses, instructors will apply real-life scenarios in their lessons, and each student will be encouraged to practice English in different scenarios to maximize time in the classroom. 

Echoing the “Bilingual Nation” blueprint created by the National Development Council, the workshop aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Taiwanese insurance industry and offer insurance professionals the chance to apply their English language skills within their profession.  Ultimately, the goal is to foster a brighter future for Taiwan’s insurance industry on an international level.
