Insurance and Economic Development Forum 2021 News Release

The "Insurance and Economic Development Forum 2021" took place on 11 December 2020 at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation International Convention Center, Taipei. The forum, hosted by the Taiwan Insurance Institute (TII), was attended by more than 240 speakers and guests from the financial and insurance industries. The Forum opened with a keynote speech from Dr. Jun Ji Shih, Former Vice Premier of Executive Yuan, in which he shared his prospects of the 2021 global economic outlook. The forum also included keynote speeches from Mr. Hsien-Nung Kuei, Chairman of Taiwan Insurance Institute, Mr. Jonathan Dixon, Secretary General of International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), and Mr. Dean Cameron, Vice President of NAIC and Director of the Idaho Department of Insurance, in which they provided their perspectives on the future development of Taiwan and the international insurance market in 2021.

Although foreign lecturers could not be present in person due to the global epidemic, TII arranged their pre-recorded videos to help local participants stay up to date on international communication.

Thereafter, two panel discussions, namely “Drivers for Sustainable Development and Future Innovation” and “Latest International Innovative Breakthroughs Disrupt Insurance Value Chain” were held to discuss post-pandemic challenges faced by the financial and insurance industries with cross-industry experts and representatives of the financial sector.

TII hopes that this forum provided a platform for in-depth discussions on global development trends and assisted the industry in coping with these immediate challenges and in achieving future progress.
