TII hosted 2026 Insurance and Economic Development Forum
The “Insurance and Economic Development Forum 2026” hosted by the Taiwan Insurance Institute (TII) was held at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation International Convention Center, Taipei on December 4, 2025. There were 280 participants attending the Forum including speakers and guests from the supervisory agency, the academia and the financial industry. Dr. Yen-Liang Chen, the Vice Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission, delivered his opening remarks on the policy direction of the transformation in the Financial and Insurance Industries at the beginning of the Forum.
The Forum also included five brilliant speeches addressed by: Dr. Yoshihiro Kawai, Chair of Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP), also serving as Chair of the OECD Working Party of Insurance and Pension; Mr. Daniel Murphy, Lead of Insurance & Asset Management, World Economic Forum (WEF); Dr. Hsien-Ming Lien, President, Chunghua Institution for Economic Research (CIER); Dr. Hong-Chih Huang, Chairman of TII; and Mr. Paul You, Chairman of the Securities Investment Trust & Consulting Association of the R.O.C., who also serves as the Chairman of First Securities Investment Trust & First Private Capital.
Dr. Lien and Dr. Huang delivered their perspectives on the global economy and the Taiwan insurance market. Following them, Dr. Yoshihiro Kawai shared his view on “New Paradigm of Insurance”, and Mr. Daniel Murphy outlined his vision of a “Insurance at a Crossroads: Risk, Resilience, and Reinvention in a Volatile World”. Finally, Mr. Paul You addressed “How Asset Management Can Help: Channeling Capital into Infrastructure”.
In addition, the Forum hosted a panel discussion on “Development Strategies for the Financial and Insurance Industry in the New Landscape of Global Geopolitical Situation” that addressed specific topics such as “Public-private Collaboration to Amplify the Investment Impact,” “The Cornerstone of Digital Transition in the Financial and Insurance Industries: Cyber Security Resilience,” and “Blue Ocean Strategy of the Financial and Insurance Industry: Smart Healthcare and Age-Friendly Society.” The moderator and panelists were drawn from the TII, National Taipei University, the National Institute of Cyber Security, and the Cathay Financial Holding.
Since 2013, TII has regularly hosted “Insurance and Economic Development Forum” at the end of the year by inviting leading experts to share their views on the global economic prospects and financial market trends. This event is designed to help the insurance industry obtain the most up-to-date information and grasp the development trends of the insurance market in a timely manner.
