TII Organized “2026 English Proficiency Workshop- Insurance International Affairs” to Bolster Global Communication and Negotiation Excellence

In alignment with global development trends and the government’s bilingual policy initiative, the Taiwan Insurance Institute (TII) has been organizing English proficiency workshops for international insurance affairs since 2020. These initiatives have consistently been highly recognized by the insurance sector. This year’s program, titled the “English Proficiency Workshop – Insurance International Affairs,” is dedicated to advancing international capacity building within the insurance industry, with a strategic focus on international exchange, global negotiation, and cross-cultural communication.

The 2026 workshop took place from May 13 to May 15 at the Golden Tulip FAB Hotel in Tamsui. With its signature overnight camp format, the event created a fully immersive English-speaking environment for in-depth discussion and exchange, enabling participants to sharpen their international agility through high-intensity interaction.

During the opening ceremony, Ms. Alice Cheng, Vice President of TII, remarked that in today’s volatile international financial landscape, insurance professionals must complement their technical expertise with superior skills in global communication. She emphasized that the workshop aims to broaden participants' global perspectives and translate these insights into tangible professional competitiveness.

The workshop featured a distinguished panel of practitioners who led the sessions, including: Mr. Colin Gullberg, a lecturer at Soochow University with 30 years of expertise in business English; Mr. Kent Wang, Deputy Dean of the Chinese Language Center, English Dept. at Soochow University, an elite interpreter for international governmental leadership conferences; and Dr. Erik Lin, Senior Advisor to the Taipei City Government and Assistant Professor at Soochow University. The workshop’s program covered critical real-world themes, including business presentation strategies, international negotiation tactics, cross-cultural communication, and professional delivery.

At its core, the workshop focused on “Immersive Capacity Building.” Through scenario simulations, interactive drills, and all-English exchanges, participants were guided to strengthen their articulation and adaptability in international settings. The program received enthusiastic support from the insurance industry, with many noting that the experience significantly enhanced the competencies in negotiation and professional expression, ultimately creating higher international visibility and service value for their organizations.

TII will continue to facilitate diverse international capacity-building initiatives. These efforts are designed to help the Taiwan insurance sector elevate its global competitiveness, strengthen its integration with international markets, and further expand its professional influence and opportunities for global cooperation.
